Small star, DIA: 4.5 cm: You will need four strips in the following measurements: L: 45 cm, W: 1 cm.
Big star, DIA: 6.5 cm: You will need four strips in the following measurements: L: 45 cm, W: 1.5 cm.

  • 1. Start by folding each of the four strips in half so they are doubled. Cut the ends at an angle, as shown in the illustration.

  • 2. Hang strip 2 over strip 1.

  • 3. Pass strip 3 through strip 1.

  • 4. Place strip 4 over strip 2 and tuck the ends through strip 3.

  • 5. Gently tighten the "pinwheel".

  • 6. Fold one leg of strip 1 back, followed by strip 3, which is folded back over strip 1.

  • 7. Then fold strip 4 over strip 2, and finish by folding strip 2 over strip 4 and tucking it under strip 1.

  • 8. Gently tighten the "pinwheel" again.

  • 9. Rotate it so it matches the position shown in the illustration.

  • 10. Fold strip 1, as shown in the illustration.

  • 11. Make sure to create sharp folds. Fold B over A.

  • 12. Tuck the strip under strip 3. Repeat the process until all four "pinwheel wings" have turned into tips.

  • 13. Turn the star over.

  • 14. Fold the remaining tips in the same way.

  • 15. When the star lies flat on the table, as shown in the illustration, it is identical on both sides.

  • 16. Lift strip A and guide it behind D without folding. Create a loop with B and thread the tip of B through where A emerges so that the point of B appears at the centre of a star point. Gently pull tight.

  • 17. This is how a star tip should look. Turn the star a quarter turn counterclockwise and repeat the process for the other strips. Then, flip the star over and repeat the process on the other side.

  • 18. Trim the excess from the strips, and your star is complete!
